Help save the Postal Service

The general "feeling" is that the Eastern Maine Plant may be safe for the time being as the APWU has been pushing the issue of finding landing spots (vacancies) within the 50 mile restriction, and the Service has been unable to show these vacancies.

Keep an eye on the House of Representative and what changes they proposed that impact us.

Here's the message we need to get out to the public:

The Postal Service is not subsidized by tax payer dollars. All revenue is raised through the sale of postage.

ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES! AND IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO SUPPORT THE REPRESENTATIVES THAT SUPPORT THE WORKING MEN AND WOMEN OF THE POSTAL SERVICE.

The FMLA form dispute has been settled!
APWU Forms are now available for FMLA Medical Certification

APWU Web News Article 50-2012, May 2, 2012

The APWU FMLA Forms are once again available for employees to use when submitting medical certification for leave under the Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA). In accordance with an April 18, 2012, award by Arbitrator Shyam Das, the Postal Service cannot require employees to use the Department of Labor’s WH-380 forms. Arbitrator Das recognized that the DOL Forms are optional forms. The USPS must accept an employee’s medical certification in any format — provided it contains all of the information required under the law.

APWU Forms are available in the union office or on line at:

Labor Unions are the last line of defense for the American Worker against the power of unlimited wealth.

Unions need the strength of membership to succeed.
