Meeting Reminder:

Our next meeting will be in the morning and held on Thursday 2/9/12 at "Events On Broadway" 729 Broadway, South Portland, (Keeley's is closing a the end of the year). There will be a light buffet around 7:30. Let your voice be heard!

We will be discussing numerous issues that are being planned for the Associate Offices, the MPO and the Plant.

Maintenance Craft Open Season

Every three years, during the month of March,
beginning with March 1, 2009, maintenance
craft employees who are not on a promotional
eligibility register(s), may apply for inclusion on
the appropriate promotional eligibility register(s).
Notification will be posted on the bulletin board
on or before March 1st of the open season year.
The employees who apply will receive the results
of their application(s) no later than one hundred
fifty (150) days from March 31, provided the applications
have been properly completed by the
applicants.

NOTE:

If you have an old score under the old MSS system then you will lose this score if you apply under the new RMSS system. Please carefully consider this before you submit an application for an update, (it will do more harm than good in most cases)

HR1351 is looking good at this point. 221 representatives have cosponsored the bill and it will get out of committee. Now it looks like the republicans on the committee are going to trap the resolution so it can't get out of committee and instead they pressed for action on Issa's bill...

Introduced by D.Issa (R-California). This bill will attack our incomes and close post offices. This bill is the biggest threat to the Postal Service. It was jammed through the committee by the republicans on a party line vote and it looks like it will go to the house floor. While our friends in Congress will try to add amendments it will be a long fight.

ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES! AND IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO SUPPORT THE REPRESENTATIVES THAT SUPPORT THE WORKING MEN AND WOMEN OF THE POSTAL SERVICE.

Station A- We have started the opposition to closing Station A as well as all small post offices. I have written numerous letters-to-the-editor of the area newspapers along with making our position known in multiple articles covering the issues.
