Legislative Watch
S. 1789 may come to the floor for a vote at any time. Please be vigilant in checking your inbox for e-team updates on S. 1789. The APWU’s website will also provide up to the minute information as it comes in.
It is likely this piece of legislation will come up for consideration in the very near future - - - possibly within the next week.
------------------------------------
Here's the message we need to get out to the public:
The Postal Service is not subsidized by tax payer dollars. All revenue is raised through the sale of postage.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
HR1351 is looking good at this point. 221 representatives have cosponsored the bill and it will get out of committee. Now it looks like the republicans on the committee are going to trap the resolution so it can't get out of committee and instead they pressed for action on Issa's bill... HR 2309 Introduced by D.Issa (R-California). This bill will attack our incomes and close post offices. This bill is the biggest threat to the Postal Service. It was jammed through the committee by the republicans on a party line vote and it looks like it will go to the house floor. While our friends in Congress will try to add amendments it will be a long fight.
ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES! AND IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO SUPPORT THE REPRESENTATIVES THAT SUPPORT THE WORKING MEN AND WOMEN OF THE POSTAL SERVICE.
....See the Legislative Page for more information.... -------------------------------------------------------
Station A- We have started the opposition to closing Station A as well as all small post offices. I have written numerous letters-to-the-editor of the area newspapers along with making our position known in multiple articles covering the issues.
